Julius Berger Officially Hands Over 1.6km Second Niger Bridge to Federal Government | Project Costs N336 Billion.

Julius Berger officially handed over the completed 1.6-kilometer Second Niger Bridge, linking Anambra and Delta states, to the Federal Government.

The project, costing 336 billion, was inaugurated on May 23, 2023, with ongoing ancillary road works.

Minister Dave Umahi expressed approval during a ceremony, suggesting the bridge is open to concession for private companies to complete associated roads and manage toll collection.

The Managing Director of Julius Berger, Lars Richter, clarified the handover as technical, stating the main bridge and toll stations are ready.

The idea for the bridge dates back to 1978/79, with actual construction beginning and local traffic opening on December 15, 2022.

Temporary routes accommodate ongoing road construction, and currently, there are no toll fees for bridge crossing.
