When Mr. Mohamed Yahya, the UNDP Resident Representative in Nigeria, visited the ruins of Malumdunari hamlet in the Gujba Local Government Area of the State on Wednesday, he provided the guarantee.
Mamman Mohammed, Governor Buni's press secretary, said in a statement that the Resident Representative was pleased with the displaced people's desire to return to their community.
"This will be taken up by the UNDP, UN, and other members of the international community to support the Yobe State government for the people to return to their community with dignity.
We anticipate that in about a year, people will be able to sing the welcome-back song like we did in Nganaram, Yahya remarked.
Malumdunari is the sole displaced community that hasn't relocated since peace and security were restored following the Boko Haram insurgency crisis, according to Governor Mai Mala Buni in the statement.
The community decimated by the insurgency would be rebuilt, he said, by the state administration working with the development partners.
According to Buni, "We are pleased with the state's increased security and the people's willingness to return to their communities with dignity.
Likewise, Mr. Nicolas Mart, a representative of the Swiss government, said the trip gave him the chance to personally see things and determine where action was needed.
In order to better the lives of the inhabitants, he said that the Swiss government will work alongside the Yobe State government to relocate the village and other troubled locations.
