Former education minister Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili claims that if Africans band together to transform their country's political structure, they can make their continent the most powerful in the twenty-first century.Read full article
This was stated by Ezekwesili on Saturday in Abuja at the School of Politics, Policy and Governance's (SPPG) third graduation ceremony for the class of 2023.
She asserted that leadership was widely acknowledged as the continent's primary challenge and claimed that the nation was run by the worst individuals.
In order to transform the perception of Africa, the former minister emphasised that all Africans must take intentional action.
The 21st century will belong to Africa if we are successful in addressing the leadership aberration that exists on our continent.
The issue is eventually resolved by the fact that Africa's issue is weak public leadership, as we have stated so frequently as a continent.
Our solution and response to that issue is the SPPG. We are arguing that being ruled by the least desirable among us is not our fate. And if you don't like something, you have to do something to change it.
Ezekwesili, the founder of the SPPG, stated that the need to develop leaders with integrity to permeate the political and commercial sectors and bring about constructive change is what gave rise to the school.
She advised the graduates to uphold the school's ideals of character, competence, and capacity and to always be of good moral character.
If they were discovered to be lacking in character or competency in any public office, Ezekwesili forewarned, their certificate would be withdrawn.
