After nearly four years of marriage, the actress filed for divorce on Monday, leaving her spouse "heartbroken."
Joshua, 45, who was seen on Tuesday without his wedding band, claimed that although he was "not thrilled" about the split, their relationship had simply "run its course."
It has since been revealed that Jodie's own family in the UK was taken by surprise when they learned of the impending divorce because they were unaware of its timing.
'We were all astonished and sorry to learn of the divorce, and we're thinking of Jodie right now and wishing her the best,' a family insider added.
'Jodie's family is dispersed between here in the UK, Jamaica, and the US,' the person continued.
According to TMZ, the couple, who are parents to three-year-old Juno Rose Diana, listed September 13 as the date of their divorce. Jodie, 37, did not file for divorce until this week, alleging "irreconcilable differences."
Joshua is devastated at the divorce, as a source previously stated: "He always imagined that he would get married, have kids, and live happily ever after."
Jodie was his person and the person he believed he would be with forever in his idealised scenario.
According to the Canadian source, Joshua's little child is his top priority as he prepares for a future as a co-parent.
The insider stated, "He never wanted this for their daughter."
They both make wonderful parents and will continue to do so; he just regrets that they won't be raising their kid together any longer.
