Victor Osimhen, a striker for the Super Eagles, has virtually all images of him wearing a Napoli jersey off of his Instagram page after the team's TikTok videos appeared to make fun of the forward.Read full article
On Tuesday, September 26, the striker was the subject of a video on Tiktok where he was ridiculed by his own team.
The video seems to be making fun of Osimhen for missing a penalty during the weekend Serie A match against Bologna that ended 0-0.
A second video that was posted online and later removed, apparently from the club's account, compared Osimhen to a "coconut," which was generally perceived as a racial slur.
Napoli eventually removed the video after receiving a lot of negative feedback on social media.
Osimhen may take legal action against his own team, according to Osimhen's agent, Roberto Calenda.
"What happened on Napoli's official TikTok profile today is unacceptable. Initially made public, a video making fun of Victor has now been removed.
"A severe fact that causes the athlete extremely serious harm and worsens the treatment the boy has been receiving over the past few months as a result of media trials and fake news. We reserve the right to pursue legal action and make any other necessary moves to safeguard Victor," declared Calenda.
One Instagram post remains after Osimhen deleted the majority of the images of him sporting a Napoli shirt.
