The event reportedly happened over the weekend at GRA in Ondo town, according to the state-owned publication.
According to reports, the couple had been through a protracted problem and the lady had made death threats against the husband.
Ibukun Solomon, the deceased's son, who was present and saw the incident, claims that his mother killed his father in his sleep following a brief fight.
In front of me, my mother killed my father with a pestle and fled. He described how she struck his head with the pestle as he was dozing off.
"Earlier that fateful day, they had gotten into a small quarrel that turned into a fight. My mother struck my father's head with the mortar after the altercation while he lay on the chair.
He lost consciousness during the process and dropped from his sleeping position. My mother struck my father's skull three times with the pestle; he subsequently passed away.
"My mother hid the pestle at the back of our house and fled when she realised that my father was already unconscious."
"I informed a few of the residents, who hurriedly transported my father to the hospital. He did, however, pass away later. His remains have been placed in the mortuary. I am the last of my mother's three children for my father.
When the residents of the neighbourhood arrived at the scene, they saw that the body was lying on the house's floor. And they made a help request to the police. The deceased had intended to inform the woman's relatives before she delivered him to his tomb, it was learned further.
Before the incident, the deceased's family member claimed that they were attempting to resolve the couple's ongoing argument.
According to the #bendelnews, the couple had a similar argument before, and each time the family was able to come to an amicable resolution.
Every time they fought, the wife had been threatening to kill her husband. The dead also let us know about the threats. But we had no idea that she would actually do it.
But this time, she decided to enforce the law herself and killed our brother without cause. She needs to be detained and charged appropriately.
