Abdulaziz Yari, a senator for Zamfara West and a former governor of the region, has reclaimed his authority from the Department of State Services (DSS).
Senator Yari was freed Friday night about 11 p.m. after being arrested and questioned by DSS agents.
The former governor visited the DSS headquarters on Thursday and was subsequently detained. The former governor had made a strong campaign for the Senate Presidency.
Senator Yari was held and questioned, although it's unclear why.
