The passing of Hermish Harding, a personal friend and business colleague of Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, PDP, Delta North, has been characterised as sad, tragic, startling, and upsetting.
In a post on his official Instagram account, Senator Nwoko expressed his sorrow at Harding's passing.
Tragically, Harding perished while on an underwater excursion to see the Titanic ship's wreckage. 2020 saw Senator Nwoko and Harding set out on an Antarctica adventure.
Nwoko revealed, "I lost a very great buddy and business partner. Commodore Hermish Harding. We just participated in an extremely risky mission to the Southpole of Antarctica together. He was a Gulf Stream pilot who, a few years ago, broke the record for the fastest circumnavigation of the globe by flying across the globe.
In the Mariana, he descended. Also last year, he urged me to join him on his space shuttle mission and on this similarly tragic Titan expedition, but I had obligations to my country. Above all, he worked with other researchers on projects aimed at eradicating malaria in Africa. He supported it wholeheartedly and at every chance that presented itself.
He told me they were prepared to dive to the Titanic if the weather was favourable in his most recent message to me, which I received this past Sunday. He cherished excitement and difficulties. His dear wife and children, who through the years have grown to be family friends, make my heart bleed. His vast experience will be sorely missed.
According to reports, Senator Nwoko was unable to travel with Harding on the tragically unsuccessful Titanic mission because of his recent induction as a senator in the 10th National Assembly.
In the submersible, Harding and four other people perished. Stockton Rush, the creator of OceanGate, Paul-Henri Nargeolet, a French diver, Shahzada Dawood, a businessman from Pakistan, and Suleman Dawood, 19, were among those killed.
They were en route to the 111-year-old Titanic debris site when the little vessel had a catastrophic implosion, and the United States Coast Guard declared them dead after days of searching.
