EPL: Potter blames Aubameyang for Chelsea draw against nottingham forest

Graham Potter, the manager of Chelsea, provided an explanation as to why his team was unable to win the Premier League match against Nottingham Forest on the first day of the new year.

He continued by stating that Chelsea "did not deserve" to win the game and indirectly placed some blame on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the Blues' failure to capitalise on the one and only opportunity they had in the second half.

On Sunday, Potter's team competed against Nottingham Forest on the road and ended up drawing 1-1. As a result, they fell seven points behind the top four teams in the league.

The Blues took the lead in the first half thanks to Raheem Sterling, but a more physical Forest side made things difficult for the West Londoners throughout the second half.

Serge Aurier's goal for the home team brought the score level approximately in the middle of the second half. The goal was well deserved.

After the match, the manager of Chelsea said the following in an interview with Sky Sports: "A hard-earned point, against a team that are set up brilliantly." After halftime, they began to apply pressure to us.

Our overall performance just wasn't up to the level required to win all three points. We were not able to move the ball at a quick enough pace.

"Pierre Emerick Aubameyang had a good chance, but it would've been unfair to take the three points at that juncture in the game," the commentator said.
