Malo Gusto, a footballer for Lyon, has been signed by Chelsea for €40 million (£35.1m).
The French club said the Blues will pay €35 million (£30.7 million) plus a further €5 million (£4.4 million) in bonuses for the defender, and the 19-year-old will remain on loan with Lyon for the remainder of the year.
Gusto inked a seven-and-a-half-year contract after passing his medical at the Blues' practise facility yesterday.
The 19-year-old made his professional debut for the French club two years ago after graduating from Lyon's youth.
Graham Potter's team has added Gusto to the lineup to rival Reece James.
The teenage player, who Chelsea characterised as a "exciting 19-year-old right-back," has signed a contract keeping him at Stamford Bridge until at least 2021, according to a statement released on Sunday morning.
