2023: Whoever becomes president of Nigeria is of no concern to the UK-British High Commissioner to Nigeria.

Whoever becomes president of Nigeria is of no concern to the UK-British High Commissioner to Nigeria.

The government of the United Kingdom (UK) asserts that it has no stake in the results of the upcoming general elections in Nigeria.

Following a meeting with the All Progressives Congress' National Working Committee, NWC, in Abuja that was held behind closed doors, Catriona Liang, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, revealed this on Wednesday.

The UK, according to Mrs. Liang, would cooperate with any candidates who won the election.

The High Commissioner also expressed faith in Nigeria's democracy and the president's dedication to holding free and secure elections.

The UK has no favourite candidate, she declared. Despite our commitment to free and fair elections, we are willing to cooperate with whichever presidential candidate wins the election.

"The UK and Nigeria enjoy a close relationship, and we want Nigeria to prosper. Also included in it is democracy.

She continued by saying that the administration of her nation applauded Nigeria's dedication to democracy and President Buhari's pledge to hold free and fair elections.
