Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been labelled a traitor by the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This was said in a statement released on Thursday by Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, Director of Special Media Projects and New Media for the Tinubu/Shettima PCC, in response to a comment attributed to Senator Dino Melaye, spokesperson for the PDP Presidential Campaign Management Committee.
Melaye referred to Senator Kashim Shettima, the vice presidential candidate for the APC, as a "great commander of bandits" in a statement.
In addition, he said that Shettima intended to turn the presidential villa into a base for Boko Haram terrorists if Bola Tinubu, the APC's presidential nominee, won the 2023 election.
Fani-Kayode responded by claiming that Atiku has a history of betraying the people he has worked with, including former Presidents Obasanjo, late Gen. Musa Yar'Adua, and his brother, former President, late Musa Yar'Adua.
Melaye's outburst, in his opinion, was complete nonsense.
He stated that the accusations made against Shettima were baseless and intended to frighten the public and give them the impression that the APC is a group of terrorists and that the party's candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, supports terrorism.
Fani-Kayode promised that Atiku will lose the election in his ward to the governing APC.
These are senseless remarks, said on behalf of a nonsensical individual, pursuing a ridiculous campaign, he declared.
"I can confirm that Atiku Abubakar is a traitor who has continually deceived everyone with whom he has worked, including President Obasanjo, late Gen. Yar'Adua, late President Yar'Adua, as well as the APC and the PDP. It is a betrayal of his public service record.
He will ultimately betray PDP once more. You may recall that he betrayed his party's governors. Dino Melaye asserts that this is the individual who ought to lead our nation as president despite the fact that he betrayed his word. No way!"
Fani-Kayode consequently urged Atiku to remain at home, stating that Nigerians, not officials in Washington, Paris, or Dubai, will decide the outcome of the presidential election.
