Video: Over 130 persons have died in a bridge collapse in India.

In western India, a suspension bridge spanning a river fell on Monday, killing over 130 people, according to local media.

According to the report, the incident happened on Sunday night in Morbi, which is a state of Gujarat in western India.

The bridge, which had just recently reopened following maintenance work, collapsed, killing 141 people but saving 177 others, according to the report.

According to a police officer, 132 people perished, 100 were hurt, and some were still missing.

According to the report, up to 500 people were on the 232-meter-long suspension bridge when it collapsed.

On social media, images and videos showed numerous people clinging to the pedestrian bridge to prevent plummeting into the sea as it appeared to split in half.
Gujarat's Labor Minister, Brijesh Merja, announced that an investigation into the accident has begun.

The office of Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that compensation would be given to the relatives of the slain.
