Streetlights tested on the second Niger Bridge by Julius Berger.

The Second Niger Bridge's building company, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, tested the illumination on the bridge after turning on the lamps.

Babatunde Fashola, a former governor of Lagos State and current minister of works and housing, claims that the bridge, which is now in its last stages of construction, would soon be commissioned and made accessible to vehicles.

In cooperation with the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, the federal ministry of works and housing is in charge of overseeing the Second Niger Bridge, a federal project (NSIA).

In September 2018, the bridge's construction got under way.

The bridge connects the cities of Asaba in the Delta State with Ozubulu and Ogbaru in the Anambra State.
