Ortom and Benue elders withdraw their support from Atiku's presidential campaign.

On Tuesday, Samuel Ortom, the governor of Benue State, appeared to have withdrawn his support for Atiku Abubakar, the PDP's nominee for president.

Atiku, according to Ortom, is working against the interests of the Benue people and disparaging him as governor.

Atiku's remarks concerning the recent slayings by suspected herdsmen in his state seems to have enraged the governor of Benue State.

Remember how Atiku claimed that the recent Killings in Benue State by Fulani herders were justified because of "sustained clashes between farmers and herders"? This seemed to justify the heinous acts.

After accusing Atiku of employing hate speech and racial profiling of Benueans, the elder statesmen of Benue, Minda Leaders of Thought, withdrew their support for him.

Governor Ortom, on the other hand, charged Atiku with collaborating with Miyetti Allah, a herders organisation notorious for carrying out heinous murders.

"Saying something of such nature by a presidential candidate who wants to rule the people was improper.

It was seriously wrong. And it seems like he doesn't even think of me and doesn't think I'm the Governor of my state," he remarked.
