Actor Olanrewaju James, also known as Baba Ijesha, has expressed his distress over his failing health from his hospital bed.
The actor, who suffered embarrassment after being found guilty of rape in July, disclosed that he has been fighting a dangerous and fatal illness in jail that has worsened his condition.
According to Baba Ijesha, he is no longer able to sleep or eat well.
The actor, who pleaded with Nigerians to spare his life because he doesn't want to pass away, was being tortured over a crime he did not commit.
The comedian Princess accused the actor of defiling her adopted daughter, and the actor continued by pleading with God to judge Princess.
"My health is declining while I'm in prison fighting a very dangerous illness. Please lend me a hand. I no longer get enough sleep or eat well. I don't wish to pass away here. I am suffering because of unknown circumstances. The All-Powerful God will punish Princess for fabricating evidence against me that I defiled her daughter.
This latest development comes days after the troubled actor requested post-conviction release from an Ikeja Domestic and Sexual Violence Court pending a hearing and decision on his appeal before the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal.
Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo had already sentenced Baba Ijesha to 16 years in prison for child molesting in July.
The Lagos State Government filed six counts of accusations against Baba Ijesha, and he was found guilty on four of them.
The jailed actor was found guilty of sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration, sexual assault, and defiling a child.
