Diego Simeone, the manager of Atletico Madrid, has stated that he wants striker Alvaro Morato to stay with the team despite rumours linking the Spain international to a transfer to Manchester United.
Simeone clarified that he is not the club's owner and expressed his desire for Morata to stay at Atletico Madrid.
Morata has been linked with a move to Manchester United, but if Simeone has his way, that won't happen. Morata scored twice as Atletico Madrid defeated Getafe 3-0 on Monday in LaLiga.
Simeone commented on the development, as reported by The Sun: "I am not the club owner; I am the coach.
"Everyone in the club hopes Morata keeps playing. He is performing extraordinarily well at work.
"I believe that all football players need to have the self-assurance to take on significant tasks,"
