SERIE A: Racist chanting towards Osimhen cost Hellas Verona a fine of €12,000

After Victor Osimhen was subjected to racial taunts from Hellas Verona supporters during Monday night's Serie A match, the club was fined €12,000.

Osimhen was subjected to racist chanting inside the Marc' Antonio Bentegodi Stadium by a portion of the home crowd.

The Nigerian international scored once and provided one assist as Napoli defeated the exciting opponent 5-2.

The Federal Prosecutor's office issued a statement saying that "it was determined to sentence Hellas Verona club with a fine of 12,000 euros for forcing its supporters to continuously sing abusive choirs of a territorial matrix towards the opponent team (Napoli) during the match."

Since moving to Italy in 2022 from Ligue 1 team Lille, Osimhen has been the target of racial taunts from opposition supporters.

Even though officials have made an effort to stop the problem, several black athletes have encountered similar taunts from Italian spectators.
