A New Recruitment Disagreement Has Erupt between the IGP and the Police Service Commission

A new dispute over the police hiring process has arisen between Police Service Commission and Inspector General of Police Alkali Baba Usman.

An advertisement for the recruitment of police constables for the year 2022 had been published in a national newspaper by the Police Service Commission.

The Nigeria Police Force, however, asked Nigerians to ignore the advertisement in response to the situation.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated in a statement on Monday that the advertisement had no relation to the Nigeria Police Force and was not associated with the police hiring procedure.

The statement says, in part, "The Nigeria Police Force wishes to inform well-meaning members of the public that, contrary to a publication on Page 21 of the Daily Sun Newspaper of Thursday, August 11, 2022 by the Police Service Commission, it has not begun the recruitment of police constables into the Nigeria Police Force for the year 2022. (PSC).

"The police similarly assert emphatically that the advertisement has no relationship with the Nigeria Police Force and is not associated with the police hiring procedure, and should be completely disregarded.

The Nigeria Police Force is not affiliated with the website, http://www.recruitment.psc.gov.ng, to which the magazine directs prospective candidates.

The Nigerian Police Force is thus requesting that all interested parties and prospective applicants disregard the information found in both the newspaper and the internet since the latter is not the official outlet for hiring police constables.

The official police e-recruitment website, https://policerecruitment.gov.ng, the Nigeria Police Force official website, advertisements in national newspapers, and official police social media accounts will all be used to announce the start of the 2022 recruitment exercise, the Nigeria Police Force assures well-meaning Nigerians.

Remember how the PSC Chairman, Alhaji Musiliu Smith, and the former IGP, Mohammed Adamu, clashed over whose organisation was authorised by law to conduct the hiring process?

The commission had filed a lawsuit against the former IGP and the Force for hiring 10,000 constables in 2019.
