Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party's nominee for president, has endorsed Tinubu's call for the campaign, whenever it begins, to be based on issues rather than personalities.
According to Mr. Valentine Obienyem, his media adviser, the APC's advice to candidates to "desist from disseminating lies, hatred, and degrading other candidates" was consistent with the message the LP candidate had been pushing for years.
He claimed that if supporters were aware of this, some stories critical of Obi that appeared in various newspapers—including some with offensive titles—would not have been printed.
Obienyem said that while Obi was not concerned about their authenticity, it was wicked to link them to his supporters and insisted that any publication from Obi's group was always properly signed and the place it was coming from was clearly spelled out.
He was speaking about the alleged fake letter from the President of Ghana and the alleged request for a N50 billion monthly payment.
He also referred to his attempt to link his campaign to IPOB as the height of mischief.
"We know that things are not good in Nigeria," he said. We are aware of the protests taking place in many regions of the nation, and our leader has frequently said what he would do to put an end to such protests and return such organisations to Nigeria as a peaceful family.
Instead of waiting for others to commit, they are here causing more issues by futilely and maliciously attempting to connect their follow contestants to some of those organisations.
He expressed pleasure that Nigerians were aware of the truth and that the tricks they had been subjected to in the past would no longer fool them.
