Denzel Dumfries of Inter Milan has moved to join Chelsea, and Jules Kounde of Sevilla is now anticipated to join Barcelona, according to the Evening Standard.
Following the exits of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger to Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively, Chelsea rekindled their interest in Kounde.
But it seems more and more likely that Kounde's desire to join Barcelona will be the deciding factor.
However, Dumfries has become a transferable player, and it appears that Chelsea is prepared to use the opportunity after missing out on Kounde.
The Dutch wing-back might give Chelsea's Reece James some welcome competition at right-wing-back.
James has occasionally filled in at right center-back.
In preparation for the next 2022–23 season, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is eager to strengthen his defence.
