Nigeria Police: IGP family insurance gives N9m to the families of police officers killed in the line of duty.

N9.1 million has been given to 15 families of Anambra State police personnel who passed away while on duty.

At the state police command's headquarters yesterday, CP Echeng Echeng, the commissioner of the Anambra State Police, gave the checks to the families.

According to information obtained by bendelnews, the checks came from the Inspector-General of Police Family Welfare Insurance Scheme, which aims to improve officers' morale while they perform their responsibilities.

According to a press release from the state police command's spokesperson, DSP Toochukwu, "Today, 19/7/2022, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Echeng Echeng, presented cheques worth N9,100,000 to 15 families of deceased police officers attached to the command on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Baba Alkali.

"The act is a project designed to support the families of police officers who passed away while on duty.

Additionally, the gesture aims to inspire officers to excel as they carry out their legal obligations while giving them confidence that their wellbeing is of utmost concern to the management of the force.

In the statement, Ikenga thanked the Inspector-General of Police for his tireless efforts to ensure that the Force's employees received a good welfare package and he urged the recipients to use the funds wisely by investing in a successful business that will, in turn, better meet the needs of the dependents they have left behind.

The CP guarantees the IGP that the command's officers and members would continue to do their utmost to maintain Anambra State's peace, security, and safety.

According to information obtained by bendelnews, the families who benefited were primarily those whose breadwinners were slaughtered by ravaging militants who had previously taken control of Anambra State.
