The former governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, was named Bola Ahmed Tinubu's running mate for the 2023 presidential election yesterday.
Tinubu is a member of the All Progressive Congress. The declaration has since been the subject of controversy because Tinubu and Shettima are both Muslims.
On AIT this morning, Rinsola Abiola—the late daughter of Moshood Abiola, an APC member—reacted to that by saying she didn't believe anyone could claim that Shettima, as governor of Borno state, discriminated against Christians because he was a leader for everyone and a supporter of equity and fairness.
There have been a lot of discussions about how things appear to be different in Nigeria now, but as Tinubu stated, we are Nigerians and the spirit of 1993 is upon us as that has been the fairest election in the history of the country.
Rinsola also noted that at this point in Nigerian history, it was the same country where her father, Moshood Abiola, was elected as president in 1993 with a Muslim running mate who was also from Borno state. If he could do it now, then why
Tinubu is qualified to assume control of the situation, according to Rinsola. Please comment below.
