Kashim Shettima, a senator for Borno Central, has responded to his selection by the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, as its vice presidential candidate.
Recall that Shettima had been named Bola Tinubu's running partner for the APC presidential nomination.
Shettima, who met Tinubu in Abuja, thanked him for choosing him as his running mate in a post on his Facebook page on Monday.
He claimed that when word of his selection spread, he was in Borno visiting orphans left behind by Boko Haram.
"Sir Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I appreciate your confidence. before the official announcement of my nomination as Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu's running partner.
My goal was to go to the Future Assured College and the Abdulateef Zabadne Orphanage Foundation in Maiduguri to rejoice with the orphans in the Sallah festival spirit.
The announcement really came in when he was mingling and attempting to cheer up the children, the most of whom had become orphans as a result of the Boko Haram insurgency.
