Lagos State Government has closed Redeemers School as a result of a pupil's death.

The Redeemers Nursery and Primary School in Ogba has been closed by the Lagos State Government.

The punishment came after Chidera Eze, a five-year-old student, passed away after a swimming session.

Chidera apparently fell into the pool while he and his friends were nearby playing.

At the Ivory Health Club on Ogundana Street in Ikeja, the incident happened in May.

Anthony Eze, the father of the deceased, attributed his child's death to the carelessness of the school administration.

The Redeemers School will continue to be closed while an administrative investigation is being conducted, the Ministry of Education announced on Monday.

According to a statement by the commissioner for education, Folashade Adefisayo, investigations of the organization's practises and officials' behaviour with regard to safety standards would be conducted.

According to her, an initial investigation by the Office of Education Quality Assurance revealed that the school has not finished its registration and is therefore not approved.

Parents and guardians were advised by the commissioner to take note of the closure and wait for the investigation's conclusion.

She said, "There is a need for action since the Ministry is concerned about the safety of the students.
