The South East, according to Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), will not permit Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), to serve as his running mate.
After opening the NNPP state office in Gombe State, Kwankwaso made this statement to reporters.
He asserts that even if Obi agrees to run as his vice presidential candidate, his constituents will reject the idea.
"Even if my friend Peter Obi wants to accept the vice presidential candidate, certain people in the south-east won't, and that is not strategic," he said.
According to Kwankwaso, "This is a golden opportunity; if they miss it, it will be a calamity."
Prior to the general election in 2023, Kwankwaso and Obi have been engaged in heated discussions over a potential merger or working together.
