The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has received a letter from Doyin Okupe, Director General of the Peter Obi Campaign Organization, resigning from the job.
Doyin Okupe was declared the provisional vice presidential candidate (Place holder) by the Labour Party and its presidential candidate in order to beat the deadline set by the election umpire.
As the party and its candidate are anticipated to reveal a significant running mate before Friday, Okupe served as a stand-in.
Observe that the party previously stated that its Vice President will be from the North.
I sent INEC my letter of resignation from consideration as the Labour Party's vice presidential candidate this afternoon," Okupe tweeted.
He continued, "The party's national chairman will soon announce a replacement. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have contributed to the success of the LP's foundation.
Peter Obi was scheduled to officially announce his choice for vice president this week between Wednesday and Friday, according to a recent interview with Okupe.
