We'll fight any attempt to rig the election in Osun-Davido

Davideke, commonly known as Davido, a popular Nigerian artist, has declared that the upcoming governorship race in Osun State will not be like the one in Ekiti State.

The election in Ekiti was held over the weekend, and there were claims of vote-buying in the state.

Some parties, notably the Social Democratic Party's (SDP) governorship candidate, Segun Oni, claimed that some citizens in Ado-Ekiti, Oye, were being paid to vote for certain political parties.

The Action Democratic Party's (ADP) candidate, Kemi Elebute-Halle, also claimed that other political parties are bribing voters with money.

Residents of Osun State, Davido said on his Twitter page, will legitimately reject any attempt to steal them of their votes.

"Osun is not Ekiti, because our people would rightfully fight any attempt to loot them, like they did in 2018." We will be ecstatic on July 16th!

"I'll see you all shortly, but for the time being, it's back to the tour."

On March 22, 2018, the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the victor of the Osun election.

Ademola Adeleke, Davido's uncle, has challenged the declaration, claiming he was cheated out of his mandate.
