A viral video shows a crowd protesting inside the palace of Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, the Olowo of Owo.
"They want to take them (suspects) to Akure," one of them was overheard saying. "The teenagers are enraged."
Last Sunday, gunmen stormed the church in Ondo, killing several worshippers, including women and children.
The death toll has risen to 40, with others injured still receiving treatment at the hospital.
Some of the assailants pretended to be congregants and fired shots from AK-47 rifles, according to the police.
Three unexploded Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were also discovered, according to the security agency.
