Shehu Sani: Tanko Muhammad's CJN replacement must respect procedures

Former federal legislator Shehu Sani has stated that the CJN's replacement should adhere to the established procedures.

Sani made this statement in response to news that Justice Tanko Muhammad had resigned as Nigeria's Chief Justice.

Sani stated in a tweet sent on Monday via his Twitter account: The replacement for the CJN should strictly abide by the established standards.

In order to discover someone who will fit into the political, sectional, religious, or ethnic peg of the reigning establishment, there shouldn't be any skipping of the line.

Muhammad quit on Sunday night, citing ill health as his reason, according to a previous report by DAILY POST.

Reports indicated that Justice Muhammad was gravely unwell prior to his resignation.

Muhammad was named Chief Justice of Nigeria in 2019 after serving as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria since 2005.

He had previously served as a judge in the Nigerian Courts of Appeal.
