The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested Moses Armstrong, a well-known Nollywood actor, for allegedly rapping a 16-year-old girl.
Armstrong's arrest was verified by Emeka Rollas, the Actors' Guild of Nigeria's national president, who described the situation as "very serious."
Martha Udom Emmanuel, the First Lady of Akwa Ibom, is handling the situation, according to him, through her Family Empowerment and Youth Re-Orientation Path Initiative.
"It is not something I or the organisation I represent stand for to get involved with a teenager as young as 16 years old," Rollas remarked.
"It's a very tragic occurrence that has affected one of our members, but I'm not going to say anything else about it."
The AGN president went on to declare that such a crime is not tolerated by the group.
