After surrendering to Rockdale County deputies, the accused killer of American rapper Trouble is currently in police custody.
The arrest of 33-year-old Jamichael Jones, according to the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office, began with a "walk and talk" to sites where they believe Jones may have links in the hopes of learning more information.
During the operation, deputies claim their search led them to Jones' mother's residence, where he was arrested after calling her while they were there.
"The mother alerted one of my sergeants, who began speaking with him and persuaded Mr. Jones to turn himself up," Rockdale County Sheriff Eric Levette said.
Jones informed deputies he'd meet them near Southern Regional Medical Center in Clayton County, according to FOX 5. Both the mother and the deputies kept in touch with him as they waited for him to arrive.
"His mother was an invaluable asset in assisting us in apprehending him," Levette said. "No one wants a poor consequence when they wake up in the morning."
Jones hasn't showed any symptoms of remorse, according to Levette, but he does appear afraid.
Jones is accused of felony murder, aggravated assault, home invasion, and battery, among other crimes.
On Sunday morning, June 5, just before 3:30 a.m., a fatal shooting happened within the Lake St. James Apartment complex.
"On arrival, deputies discovered a Black guy lying on the floor with a gunshot wound," Rockdale County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Jedidia Canty said at a press conference on Sunday.
According to authorities, the 34-year-old artist, whose actual name is Mariel Orr, was shot once in the chest.
"We know there are a lot of individuals who are very unhappy and heartbroken about the situation right now," Canty added.
Orr was visiting a female acquaintance when Jones pushed his way into the apartment and fired the deadly shot, according to authorities.
"Mr. Jamichael Jones knew the female, and it was a domestic dispute," Canty explained. "The suspect and the victim did not know each other."
