Doyin Okupe has revealed that the Labour Party intends to form the largest coalition in Nigerian political history in preparation for the 2023 election.
According to DAILY POST, the party nominated Okupe as Peter Obi's running mate on Friday.
Okupe, who is the Director-General of Peter Obi's campaign, will serve as a placeholder until the party's stakeholders agree on a suitable vice presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, at which point he may be replaced.
Okupe stated on Channels TV that his name has been submitted while the LP determines the largest coalition to defeat the APC and PDP.
Okupe stated, "Our plan is to form the largest political coalition in Nigerian history because we are up against two giants: the APC and the PDP."
"We cannot work on our own; we must form a coalition, and it is essential that all stakeholders are included.
"The selection of the vice presidential candidate is an electoral process that continues until the process concludes. We believe that the Labour Party, should it come to power in Nigeria, will focus primarily on young Nigerians.
"I'm willing to sacrifice myself so that young people can reach the top.
"LP's use of Okupe is in accordance with the Nigerian constitution."
