Come 2023, Nigerian youths will take control, says Turaki

Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, ex-Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, has lauded Nigerian millennials for their enthusiasm in Permanent Voter Cards (PVC).

According to the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), he witnessed their excitement to obtain their cards ahead of the 2023 elections.

Due to the high demand for PVCs in many states, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) extended the registration deadline to June 30.

Turaki said in a statement that the incident shows that young Nigerians are ready to decide the fate of the general elections.

The former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate urged them not to be discouraged and to keep their focus.

Turaki emphasised that Africa's most populous nation's youth have the numbers and the potential to make meaningful change.

"Right now, it is evident that we are going in the path that young people asked us to go."

"From the videos and photographs I've seen, the young people of Nigeria are tired with the current quo and are flocking to register to vote in significant numbers."

"It is apparent from the degree of civic engagement on social media and on the streets that young Nigerians are ready to take action at all levels," he stated.

Turaki recommended the youth to vote for leaders who can address the country's economic and security challenges.
