The Federal College of Agriculture, Moore Plantation, Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, is accused of mishandling N633 million, according to the Auditor General of the Federation's (AuGF) report, which was upheld by the Senate Committee on Public Accounts.
Senator Mathew Urhogbide (PDP Edo South), the committee's chairman, stated on Wednesday in Abuja that the panel made the judgement because the Institution failed to show up and refute the allegations.
The AuGF's 2018 report, which was delivered to the National Assembly, contains the questions.
According to the chairman of the Senate panel, numerous invitations to appear and offer a defence or other matters were addressed to the College officials, but none of them were accepted.
"We are going to take the stance of the Auditor General of the Federation on the Federal College of Agriculture, Moore Plantation, Ibadan, as they were invited but did not show up.
"A reminder was sent to them, and they have up to 15 questions to answer in the 2018 Auditor General's Report. The agency's leader is aware of the repercussions. Senator Urhoghide emphasised that any refunds from the questions had to go into the government's coffers.
the non-remittance of N97 million in internally generated revenue, irregularities in the award of a contract for N23 million that was above the approval threshold, irregularities in the award of a contract for N193 million, and the payment of N247 million without adequate supporting documentation are all questions, according to the records that are currently available.
Other examples include N22 million in payment vouchers that were not submitted for audit, N1.2 million paid in violation of federal government e-payment policy, N9 million paid in unpaid consultancy fees, and N4.4 million in statutory Value Added Tax, VAT, and Withholding Tax that was not deducted.
However, the College reportedly did not respond to the inquiry that was sent out five years ago.
