Anambra: Governor Soludo Discloses Reasons 1,000 Teachers Were Dismissed In The State.

Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has stated that over 1,000 teachers in the state have been dismissed of their positions due to shady employment practises.

According to the Governor, the impacted individuals are still unqualified for the job.

On Thursday, Soludo clarified the situation in a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Mr Chris Aburime.

According to him, the Anambra government has not fired any qualified teachers.

"The Governor's attention has been attracted to publications on protest by Parents/Teachers Association (PTA) teachers, reportedly converted to permanent employees in Anambra schools," the statement said in part.

"The demonstrators, who barricaded the State House of Assembly's entrance, held placards with varied inscriptions, claiming to have worked for the State government before being fired."

"For the avoidance of doubt, no qualified teacher has been dismissed of his or her assignment in the State's educational system."

"The affected PTA teachers were "converted" to the school system in a haphazard, hazy manner in the final days of the previous administration.

"All they were required to do was participate in an online teacher recruiting test to keep their government jobs."

Over 31,500 people were shortlisted for the Computer Based Test after the Anambra government advertised 5,000 positions in the health and education sectors.

The examination is set to take place on Saturday.
