AFCON Qualifiers: If you want to put on Cameroonian shirt, you must do your job-Samuel Eto’o tells players after 1:0 win over Burundi.

The head of the Cameroon Football Federation, Samuel Eto'o, issued a harsh assessment of Cameroon's performance in their 1-0 AFCON qualifying win over Burundi.

On Thursday, Karl Toko Ekambi scored the only goal of the game in their first qualifying encounter against Burundi.

Eto'o was seen in a viral video tearing at the team's performance and asking them to do more before of their participation in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year, saying that he sobbed for years because he had horrible World Cups.

"I am not happy," stated the Barcelona icon. I'm not pleased at all. You are a member of the Cameroonian national team. You must complete the task regardless of who is in front of you.

"I cried for years because I had a string of poor World Cups." But I knew what was wrong with me and why I had horrible World Cups. And that will not happen as long as I am president.

I accepted the presidency in order to make things better, and slots on this squad will be pricey.

"No one is guaranteed a spot on this team." You must carry out your responsibilities. If you want to come and wear the Cameroonian shirt, you must first complete your work.

"Otherwise, don't bother coming, and I'll be OK." I'll be delighted to have the kids play."

Eto'o played in three World Cups but never advanced past the group round.

Cameroon is in the same group as Brazil, Switzerland, and Serbia for this year's World Cup, which begins in November.
