Real Madrid won the Champions League by defeating Liverpool.

Real Madrid won the Champions League for the 14th time in their history thanks to Vinicius Junior's second-half score on a turbulent night in Paris for Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp's side were looking to avenge their Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid in Kyiv last season, but they were unable to find a leveller and lost 1-0 to the Spanish giants when Vinicius slipped in at the far post to convert Federico Valverde's close-range cross (59).

Due to logistical challenges outside the Stade de France, the game's start time had been pushed back by more than a half-hour, resulting in huge lines and dangerous crowding for Liverpool fans attempting to enter the stadium.

Despite the hectic conditions, Liverpool maintained their focus and created several chances, but they were unable to defeat Thibaut Courtois, who deflected a Sadio Mane shot onto the inside of the post and made a number of other stunning saves in the first half.

Liverpool were in their third Champions League final in five years, but their loss means they will miss out on a treble after winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup earlier this season, while Real Madrid celebrate yet another European triumph, their run to the final marked by a series of incredible comebacks.
