Mr. President Muhammadu Buhari has discounted the likelihood of his administration fielding a favoured candidate in the 2023 Presidential election.
During a recent interview, Buhari stated that he has no favourite candidate for the 2023 Presidential race.
Nigerians will elect a successor in 2023, and he has vowed to pass up authority to that person.
During a press conference following the Eid-el-Fitr prayers in Abuja, President Muhammadu Buhari answered questions from media.
Buhari has stated that he does not have a specific candidate to take over as president next year.
As an alternative, President Buhari stated that the person who would follow him is "the person that Nigerians elect."
In addition, the President called on security agencies to step up their efforts in the battle against insurgency.
"We'll continue to secure the environment, especially as the rainy season approaches, so that farmers may return to their farms and we don't have to worry about food insecurity.
The heads of the services — the army, navy, and air force, as well as the inspector general of police, among others — are acutely aware of the gravity of the situation. "It is their responsibility to track out and execute terrorists," he stated.
