The bodies of twenty persons who drowned in the Guni-Zumba river in Niger State while fleeing robbers have been buried.

The casualties, who included women and children, escaped when bandits assaulted the Guni and Kurgbaku settlements in the state's Munya Local Government Area on Wednesday, March 30.

They were reportedly crossing the river on their way to the Zumba and Gwada IDP camps when their boat capsized in the middle of the river.
