Senegal captain Sadio Mane has received a threat just days before the commencement of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon in 2021.
A well-known 'juju' witch doctor from the Benin Republic threatened Mane.
The witch doctor advised Liverpool's star not to partake in the African Cup of Nations.
The witch doctor's threat came with a catch: if Mane played for Senegal in any game, he would die of a heart attack.
The witch doctor's statement prompted debate on social media, with his supporters concerned about the threat and the likely outcome.
Mane, on the other hand, has responded to the witch doctor's warning from the Benin Republic.
The witch doctor's threat was rejected by the 30-year-old forward, who explained why.
Mane is a devout Muslim, therefore he dismissed the threat by declaring that all lives belong to Allah.
At the AFCON, Sadio Mane is not afraid of African Juju.
"I grew up persuaded that death is only in Allah's hands, and I think that human life is not advanced nor postponed, and I will participate in the match properly," the Liverpool star added.
And if I have a heart attack and die on the field, this magician will be nothing more than a tool to carry out Allah's word, so don't be fooled by him."
Mane and his Senegal colleagues finished second to Algeria in the previous edition and are hungry to win in Cameroon.
On Monday, January 10, 2022, the Teranga Lions will meet Zimbabwe in Cameroon to begin their campaign.
