2023: Rochas Okorocha, the former governor of Imo State, has officially declared for president.

Senator Rochas Okorocha, the former governor of Imo State, has launched his candidacy for the president in 2023.

In the 9th Senate, Okorocha represents the Imo West Senatorial District.

On Monday, when announcing his candidacy for President at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, Okorocha stated that reconciling Nigerians across ethnic and religious lines would be his top priority.

He promised to build an enabling economy, one in which constructive activity and employment creation would be the norm.

In addition, the presidential candidate stated that he would make free education mandatory, particularly from primary to secondary institutions.

Rochas, a senior member of the All Progressive Congress (APC), will be running for the president for the fourth time.

He has been in a long-running feud with Hope Uzodinma, the current governor of Imo State.

Through his charitable gestures, Okorocha is thought to have a close affinity with people from various geo-political zones of the country, making him one of the leaders who have announced interest in running for president in 2023 from the southeast.

With his official declaration on January 31st, he has joined the ranks of Ebonyi State governor Dave Umahi, former Senate President and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, and businessman Sam Ohuabunwa as South East leaders vying for the presidency in 2023.
