Mary Oladejo, a native of Oyo town, became victorious in the 19th iteration of the Miss Oyo State Beauty Contest on Sunday night.
The pageant was hosted in the Jorgor Centre in Ibadan and organised by Nubian Diamond, a company founded by renowned Nigerian journalist Isaac Brown.
Ms Adedoja, the daughter of Oyo Monarch Lamidi Adeyemi, was crowned Miss Oyo 2020 earlier this year.
"The expression of my thanks goes to all persons, organisations and friends who supported my ideas," outgoing queen Ms Adeyemi said during her remarks during the ceremony of transfer. During my reign as Miss Oyo State, I was able to complete five projects in honour of significant dates, including New Year's, Valentine's Day, International Women's Day, Children's Day, and Independence Day.
Graduates, undergraduates, and self-employed youth all took part in the competition.
Representative Olajide Adedeji of the Ibadan North/South Federal Constituency gave Ms Oladejo a car as a gift. In addition to the two pieces of land, she received a dining set, a freezer, and other amenities.
For their efforts and support, Mr Adedeji also rewarded each of the finalists N100,000.
When Ms. Oladejo was anointed, she swore to use her reign to benefit the state of origin.
"Even when my rule is finished, people will remember the things I did. "Only beautiful things will come out of my reign," she declared.
Yinka Ayefele, a juju artist, Fatai Owoseni, a former police commissioner, Funke Adetuberu, Sen. Kola Balogun, a senator from Oyo South Senatorial District, and PDP southwest woman leader Bose Adedibu were among the dignitaries in attendance.
Others were Commissioner for Youth and Sports Seun Fakorede, CEO of Titan Farms Gbenga Eyiolawi, and Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board Nureni Adeniran.
It was announced that two state agencies had won commendation awards for their great work. Among these are the Oyo State Housing Corporation, the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, the Oyo State Teaching Service Commission, and the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency.
Additional honours were bestowed on organisations such as a housing authority, a basic education board and a health insurance agency in Oyo State for their hard work and dedication.
