In a recent arrest, the Anambra State Police Command apprehended a guy who is believed to be a senior member and commander in the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), as well as its terrorist affiliate known as, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

On Saturday, October 30, the commander, named as Udebuan Sage Chubueze, was apprehended in Ekwukobia, in the state's Aguata Local Government Area, according to police.

At response to a tip-off, Chubueze was apprehended in his home, where he was found to have gunshot wounds to his legs and arms.

In case you missed it, there was a gun fight between security officers and a group of militants in Ekwulobia on Friday, October 29, in which many of the gunmen were wounded but managed to flee.

IPOB, a pro-Biafra organisation, has been suspected of being involved for some of the attacks against police officers in the South-East, although the group has categorically denied any participation in the incidents.

Nnamdi Kanu, the group's leader, announced the formation of ESN in December 2020 in order to defend the inhabitants of the region from terrorists and bandits who are reportedly invading from the north.

The IPOB commander characterized the group as a duplicate of the Western Nigeria Security Network, popularly known as Amotekun, which was established by the governors of the South-West to combat instability in the region earlier in the decade.

In a statement, Kanu stated that "the sole goal and objective of this newly constituted security organization known as Eastern Security Network is to prevent every criminal activity and terrorist attack on Biafraland."

Our forests and farms, which terrorists have turned into slaughter grounds and raping fields, will be protected by this vigilante force, which is akin to the Amotekun in the South-West and the Miyetti Allah security unit.
