Garba (Sokoto's Commissioner for Careers and Security Matters) house was set ablaze on Tuesday for alleged involvement with bandits terrorizing the area.

An irate mob has razed the home of Sokoto State Commissioner for Careers and Security Matters, Garba Moyi, in the state's Isa Local Government Area.

Garba's house was set on fire on Tuesday after he was accused of collaborating with gangs terrorizing the neighborhood.

The mobs also vandalized the vehicles of the area's District Head, Sarkin Gobir of Isa Alhaji Nasiru Ahamad, for reportedly defending the activities of criminal gangs in the area.

People in the neighborhood have long accused the two leaders of being unconcerned with banditry in the area, according to a source.

ASP Sanusi Abubakar, the Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Sokoto Police Command, confirmed the occurrence on Tuesday and said the police were looking into it.

He did, however, urge residents in the area to remain calm and work with law enforcement and police to ensure the safety of the state's citizens' lives and property.
