We are not afraid to say that all those involved in the killing of Deborah Samuel are potential bandits and boko-haram members.
The Southern and Middle Belt Alliance (SaMBA) requested on Monday that those responsible for the death of Deborah Samuel, a student at Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto State, be prosecuted as soon as possible.
The group said in a statement signed by Prince Rwang Pam Jnr. and made available to journalists that the assassination of Deborah Samuel was unacceptable under any circumstances.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was also chastised by SaMBA for displaying a "degree of insensitivity unfit for a president."
It went on to say that Atiku displayed an unattractive weakness at a time when Nigerians were united in their search for a capable Commander-in-Chief.
Deborah Yakubu, the victim, was another young woman who, if she had lived, might have voted for Abubakar Atiku in the next election.
Deborah Yakubu, a female student at Shehu Shagari College of Education, was mobbed and lynched to death by her peers for suspected blasphemy against the Prophet, according to SaMBA. The assassination of the young girl sparked widespread outrage across the country.
Atiku was accused of condemning the assassination in a tweet before deleting it after fanatics promised to vote against him in the upcoming presidential election.
As a result, SaMBA has made an urgent appeal to the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) to educate Muslims throughout the country that murdering in the name of God is unislamic because Islam is linked with peace.
"It is really pathetic that Samuel Deborah, a student of Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto State, was stoned to death and set ablaze on Thursday by her fellow students for allegedly making a blasphemous statement on a WhatsApp group," the statement signed by the SaMBA spokesman added.
"We condemn his fellow students' actions in their entirety, and we urge on security agencies to guarantee that all individuals engaged in Deborah Samuel's murder face the full force of the law." If we wish to put an end to killings in the name of religion, we must not ignore this instance.
"We are not scared to suggest that everyone implicated in Deborah Samuel's murder is a possible bandit or boko-haram member."
"The former Vice-President has dispelled any concerns about his hunger for power and predisposition to religious fundamentalism, despite his best efforts to mask his intolerance over the years," SaMBA stated.
If Nigerians make the mistake of voting Atiku as our Commander-in-Chief, his actions convey frightening signals about the kind of president he will be.
"He has demonstrated that the blood of innocent people does not matter to him, regardless of where they come from."
"He has demonstrated that he can defend and sustain his political interests by shielding lawbreakers and murders."
"Atiku has shown a heinous weakness, especially at a time when Nigerians are seeking for a capable Commander-in-Chief who can take the fight to terrorists.
Political correctness is more essential to him than national correctness, which is risky."
"A President of the South-East extraction, will heal our nation of such discrimination and construct a Nigeria where every section and religion may dwell together," SaMBA said, urging Nigerians to pick a president from the south.
